Last Friday, affected by Good Friday, the stock exchanges of the United States, several European countries, Australia, and Hong Kong were all closed for one day. Trading of precious metals, US crude oil, foreign exchange, and stock index futures contracts under CME, as well as Brent crude oil futures contracts under ICE, were suspended for the entire day. On Monday (April 21, Beijing time), spot gold rose and traded around 3347.12, with increased risk aversion in the market. US President Trump stated on social media that the "golden rule of negotiation and success: those who own gold set the rules" is expected to once again break historical highs. The US dollar fell below the 99 mark in early trading, hitting a new low of 98.88 since April 2022. US crude oil fell more than 1% and traded around $63.18 per barrel. Progress was made in nuclear negotiations between the US and Iran over the weekend, easing supply concerns.
